As the year is nearing its end, so too are some of our project stages with grants being acquitted for components and new stages being embarked upon. It has also been a rewarding month with ZEN being invited to be part of the panel of experts as a representative of the communities working with Rewiring Australia at their recent seminar in Brisbane.

To address this growing textile waste and emissions problem, Noosa Council has teamed up with BlockTexx to create a community event to give your old linen a second chance at life.

On 16 November at The J parking lot in Noosa Heads, households and businesses can drop off their worn-out sheets, towels, pillowcases, table clothes, doona covers and linen that is no longer wanted or can no longer be used.

Donated material will be converted into valuable, high-grade materials by BlockTexx - textile recovery facility that can be used by Australian manufacturers to create new products such as hydro-mulch, shopping baskets and geosynthetic fabrics.

Our recent research has uncovered over $100 million which Noosa Shire residents can directly save and utilise in other areas than energy simply by adopting some simple principles and changes.

By working together to make small changes, big changes will happen.

According to Clean Energy Council’s recently launched “Clean Energy Australia Report”, this year's comprehensive overview of the Australian clean energy sector found that renewables overall accounted for nearly 40 per cent of Australia’s total electricity supply, while figures for generation capacity added were strong at 5.9 GW.

These figures are motivating to say the least.

Anne Kennedy, (Chair of Zero Emissions Noosa) was delighted to be invited alongside Saul Griffith of Rewiring Australia to showcase Zero Emission Noosa’s journey towards Rewiring Noosa - Electrifying Everything and the Community Engagement sessions which have been very well received.

Information sessions are continuing into the new year with ongoing presentations to community organisations by request.

ZEN Board Members recently spent time reviewing and making improvements to our ZENe (Energy) and ZENTAG (Transport) Action Plans as part of ZEN Inc.’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.

Board Members, Project Leaders & Project participants reviewed the challenges and opportunities we are facing for the next twelve months.

A very productive day resulted in some innovative future projects being explored. The 2023-2026 Strategic Plan Working Group Action Plans will shortly be available on ZEN Inc.’s website.

Many thanks to those who contributed their ideas, feedback and suggestions. We thank you for your time and efforts. A BIG thank you to Cathie Steele, a very experienced Strategic Planner, who facilitated this workshop. Your assistance was greatly valued and appreciated!

The E-Mobility Rebate Scheme offers rebates to reduce the upfront cost of purchasing a new eligible e-bicycle or e-scooter, encouraging the uptake of safe e-mobility devices as a more active and sustainable mode of transport.

As part of Queensland's Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy 2022-2032, the Queensland Government has committed $1 million to the E-Mobility Rebate Scheme to provide Queensland residents with rebates to reduce the upfront cost of purchasing a new eligible e-bicycle or e-scooter.

The Scheme seeks to reduce transport emissions and promote the safer usage of e-mobility devices by encouraging the uptake of high-quality e-bicycles and e-scooters for active transport. 

It is expected that the scheme will be popular, and funding will be exhausted quickly. Rebate funding is not guaranteed. Completed applications will be assessed at any stage of the application process and applications will be assessed in order of receipt.
