Reduce the stress and cost of powering your home

Does the cost of heating, cooling and powering your home add too much pressure that you struggle to live comfortably? If you’re a low-income homeowner, receive a Centrelink payment and live in the Noosa Shire, you could be eligible for a free solar PV system.

What if you didn’t have to worry about heating or cooling your home?

Zero Emissions Noosa is aiming to reduce energy stress in Noosa by giving access to a solar PV system to 10 low-income households, at no cost to you. Installing a solar PV system could help to ease power bills by up to $400 to $800 per annum.

Rising energy costs disproportionately affect low-income earners who already experience severe housing-related stress. Installing solar and lowering energy bills will help reduce costs, stress and emissions for these households.

Check your eligibility and complete an Expression of Interest form below on this page or from your local participating support agency by 30 April.

Margaret would be better off with solar.

Margaret has been living in her all-electric home for 43 years. She says owning her own home is the key to surviving on a pension. Her winter power bills are around $500 so she settles for a blanket and only turns on the heater when she has to. Getting solar would mean an end to skyrocketing power prices and she could afford to pay for some maintenance around her old home. She will also be able to turn a heater on to stay warm.

Margaret is also happy that she will help with saving our environment.

“Sometimes living on the pension is hard, so being able to have solar will help a lot with the budget and also being able to turn on electric appliances during the day while solar is generating the power.”
