Noosa Today has published an article about important issues that Noosa Council will be promoting at the upcoming Local Government Association of Queensland conference.
Environmental Upgrade Agreements (EUA)
Zero Emissions Noosa has long been lobbying for EUAs, which essentially allow the Council to aft as a bank to allow residents and businesses to fund environmental upgrades to buildings to improve energy and water efficiency such as solar panel installations, and to then repay the amount through their rates. These schemes have been in place for several years in other states.
State Planning Scheme restrictions
A second motion to be championed by Noosa Council will be to allow local councils to include provisions in their local planning schemes for requirements for energy efficiency, solar power and other emissions reduction provisions.
