NEXT COUNCIL MUST TACKLE COMMUNITY CLIMATE EMISSIONS
THE NEXT 4 YEARS MUST BE A LITMUS TEST OF THE NEW NOOSA COUNCIL'S COMMITMENT TO WORKING WITH ITS PEOPLE TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.
In 2019 Noosa Council declared a Climate Emergency and ZEN acknowledges the major work done by the current council in tackling Council greenhouse gas emissions.
However, there is no time to waste in tackling the ten times larger size of Noosa's community emissions! We want to see the next Noosa Council hit the ground running.
ZEN believes the next Noosa Council must immediately begin work on electricity and transport emission reduction actions which respond to the grave issues of climate change confronting the planet.
Rather than broad generalities, we asked all candidates to respond to 13 very specific and significant policy issues, including a Climate Emergency Action Plan. Each issue is particularly focussed on delivering a financially and environmentally smart and innovative Noosa region, one that can be a global leader on these critical issues.
We provided brief notes and links to already existing examples.
We know this is a very hectic time for all candidates, and wish to express our appreciation to those who have responded. Candidate answers will be updated as any other responses are received.
